Leaders of Today and Tomorrow Program Interns

League of Women Voters Minnesota seeks two program interns to work in coordination with the Program Director on the 2010 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow (LOTT) program.  LOTT seeks to strengthen women's leadership in Minnesota by developing, connecting, and inspiring emerging female leaders.  The program consists of the annual Women's Leadership Conference, an inspirational event of speakers, workshop and relationship-building, and the newly launched LOTT Fellows Program, an intensive program of leadership skills development and mentorship.

Program interns will play an integral role in the success of this program.  We seek passionate, creative and enthusiastic people interested in learning how nonprofits manage and develop programming to serve the local and state community.  Specifically, program interns will assist staff in:

  • Advertizing and recruiting participants for the 2010 LOTT Conference (April 9-10, 2010)
  • Building and maintaining relationships with student groups at universities and colleges throughout the state
  • Assisting at the LOTT Conference
  • Helping LWVMN increase use of technology and other web-based tools to promote its advocacy work, including email action alerts, and social media websites
  • Additional administrative duties as designated by LWVMNEF staff
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Interest in women's leadership development.
  • Interest in the mission of the League of Women Voters Minnesota.
  • Experience using the internet for communication as well as computer proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite highly desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and follow through required.
  • Some experience with website maintenance and online advocacy tool is a plus.
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Although working hours are flexible, ability to attend program staff meetings is required.
Additional Information:

This internship is unpaid.  The position can be for college credit.  The internship is a 5-10 hours per week commitment.  Internship runs between January-May 2010.
