Crystal, New Hope, East Plymouth
Summer is here, and once again, the LWV of Crystal, New Hope, E. Plymouth will greet our community at the New Hope Farmer’s Market. Beside registering citizens to vote, we publicize upcoming fall meetings and give everyone the handy “Participate in Your Government” trifold that details how to contact all elected officials.
This past year, our meetings included two very well-attended community meetings -- “Domestic/Family Violence—Community Impact” and “Stop Human Trafficking—Minnesota Girls Are Not For Sale”.
A very busy year included five candidate forums, an evening with Senator Ann Rest and the Impartial Justice Act, our Wine and Chocolate book discussion of “Her Honor, Rosalie Wahl and the Minnesota Women’s Movement” with former State Senator Ember Reichgott in attendance. Members of the public joined us for a showing of the film “Inequality for All”.
Our members participate in the West Metro and CMAL meetings. Katie Rodriguez, LWVMN Treasurer and Metropolitan Council Member joined us at our Holiday Party. We must mention our huge effort to put on a perennial plant sale each May, which helps us mightily in our efforts to do all this.
