Pivoting Towards Equity: A Women's Equality Day Conversation
In 1963, Betty Friedan published The Feminist Mystique, which captured the essence and energy of the first wave of feminism to fuel a new wave of feminist politics. Now, 52 years later, it's time for us to draw on that spirit as we move whole-heartedly into the next phase of our movement; one that draws on both that spirit and the historical and contemporary work of activists from all marginalized communities to re-imagine what our feminism must be: Pivoting Towards Equity: A Women's Equality Day Conversation.
We'll hear from State Senator Sandy Pappas, State Representative Rena Moran, and Sia Her, Executive Director of the Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans about the many intersections between feminism and racial equity before continuing the conversation over complimentary ice cream sundaes by Dar's Double Scoop, a feminist-friendly local business.
Suggested donation of $5 at the information table to cover the cost of rental fees would be very much appreciated.
*In case of inclimate weather, the event will be held in Room 10 of the State Office Building.
