Communications Privacy Policy

Overview

The League of Women Voters Minnesota (LWVMN) is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of individuals who subscribe to our communications. We collect and use personal information only as needed to carry out our nonpartisan mission of voter education, advocacy, and civic engagement.

This Communications Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your information.

LWVMN does not rent, sell, trade, or share personal information with third parties for their own marketing, fundraising, or commercial purposes without explicit consent, except as required by law or as described in this policy.

  • Subscribe to LWVMN email, text, or other communications

  • Complete online or paper forms, surveys, or event registrations

  • Communicate directly with LWVMN staff or volunteers

How We Use Information

LWVMN uses subscriber information to:

  • Share nonpartisan voter education and advocacy information

LWVMN does not use subscriber information for commercial purposes.

Nonpartisan Commitment

LWVMN is a nonpartisan organization and does not support or oppose any political party or candidate.
Subscriber information is not used for partisan purposes.

Third-Party Service Providers

LWVMN uses third-party platforms to manage communications, including The Databank and Outreach Circle/League in Action. These service providers process information on LWVMN’s behalf and are subject to their own privacy and security policies. LWVMN does not authorize these providers to use personal information for purposes other than providing services to LWVMN.

How Information is Protected

LWVMN uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including:

  • Password-protected access to communications platforms such as:

    • Access to The Databank (newsletter subscription information) is password protected, and only shared with the office staff who handle data entry and retrieval.

    • Access to Outreach Circle/League in Action (text messaging tool) is password protected, and only shared with the office staff who handle data entry and messaging. Outreach Circle has its own privacy policy.

  • Access limited to authorized staff who require information for their job responsibilities

  • Security measures implemented by third-party vendors

While LWVMN takes reasonable steps to protect personal information, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your Rights and Choices

Subscribers may:

  • Unsubscribe from emails or texts at any time using the instructions provided in each communication

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information

  • Request information about how their data is used

Requests may be submitted using the contact information below.

Retention of Information

LWVMN retains subscriber information for as long as necessary to fulfill communications purposes or as required by law. Individuals may request deletion of their information at any time.

Policy Updates

LWVMN may update this Communications Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be posted on the LWVMN website and/or communicated to subscribers as appropriate.
