Permanent Supportive Housing and Our Communities:
A Conversation with Beacon CEO Chris LaTondresse

The League of Women Voters Edina will host a discussion with Chris LaTondresse, CEO of Beacon on permanent supportive housing in the Twin Cities on Thursday morning, February 12 . All are welcome to join the Zoom call.

Beacon is one of Minnesota’s largest providers of what’s known as permanent supportive housing: homes for families, youth and individuals that are supplemented by wraparound services to help residents – many of whom enter Beacon's homes from long-term or chronic homelessness – stabilize their lives and enable them to thrive, not just survive. As the federal administration threatens to strip essential funding from these homes, LaTondresse will lead a discussion about the vital role they play in our communities

LaTondresse joined Beacon after serving as a Hennepin County Commissioner, during which time he championed affordable housing, especially as Chair of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA). He played an instrumental role in securing unprecedented funding for housing stability, forging partnerships with mission-driven housing developers, and rallying advocates to cultivate political will for more affordable housing. Prior to his election to the Hennepin County Board, LaTondresse served in President Obama’s Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives at USAID. He was a senior leader at The Expectations Project (a national civil rights advocacy organization) and was vice-chair on the Hopkins school board.
