Pregnant and Murdered: Homicide - #1 Cause of Death in Pregnancy

  • Zoom 75 West 5th Street, Suite 315 Saint Paul, MN, 55102 United States (map)

Homicide is the leading cause of maternal death in the United States. Women are more likely to be murdered during pregnancy than they are to die of common obstetric causes.

In Minnesota, recent data show there were at least 40 domestic violence-related homicides in one year, the highest number on record, underscoring the deadly toll of intimate partner violence in the state.

Expert panelists will discuss the intersection of pregnancy, abuse, and violence, and will recommend support systems and policy changes needed to protect vulnerable women and unborn babies.

Admission: free for the general public; $25 for lawyers seeking 1 CLE credit (pending)
