Why do we want publicity?

  • to create a live audience

  • to showcase LWV’s good work

  • to entice candidates to appear

  • to attract potential new members

  • to generate interest in voting

  • to provide a community service


Who do we want to reach?

  • long-time voters

  • candidates

  • new voters

  • new citizens

  • potential members

  • unregistered voters

  • co-sponsor members


Where do we reach voters?

  • on the radio

  • on community access TV

  • on Facebook

  • community calendars

  • through co-sponsors

  • in newspaper articles/letters to editor

  • on Twitter

  • anywhere people gather by posting flyers

  • on email

  • on YouTube

  • on LWVMN website!


What do we have to say?

  • we’re having an event

  • candidates are appearing

  • remember to vote

  • meet the candidates

  • talk about an issue

  • attend our meeting

  • include the basics of who, what, when, where, why and how


When do we say it?

  • when date, speaker are confirmed for issue forum

  • when forums are scheduled to announce dates

  • 2-3 weeks before after candidates are invited

  • one week ahead to announce confirmed candidates

  • day before confirming roster of candidates

  • day of as reminder to audience


How do we say it?

  • via email, text message, Twitter and Facebook

  • in partnership with our co-sponsors

  • by phone calls to reporters or bloggers

  • posting information on event calendars

  • speeches before community organizations

  • frequently & loudly whenever there is updated news
