“Votes for Women” – Minnesota State Capitol Tour
Tours provided at 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm (each tour is 1.5 hours)

In 1919, the US Congress passed the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote. Minnesota ratified the amendment in September, and by August of 1920, it was adopted by all the required states. To mark the opening of the LWV Minnesota Centennial Convention, take a special tour that focuses on Minnesota women who played significant roles in securing the right to vote. Learn about the struggles and success stories of Minnesota women who worked to persuade elected officials in the State Capitol to grant women the vote. Plus, learn about the first elected women to take office in Minnesota, what role they played in state government, and how women today participate in elected office.

Complimentary admission for LWV members, even if you are not attending Convention. Only 35 spots available for each tour.
