More Ways to Give
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QDC) from your IRA
Make a difference today while potentially reducing your tax burden. If you are 70½ or older, you can give any amount up to the annual limit ($100,000 per year) directly from your IRA to the League of Women Voters Minnesota without counting the distribution as taxable income.
Direct charitable gifts can be made from an IRA. In some cases, you may be able to roll assets from another retirement plan, such as a pension, profit-sharing plan, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), 401(k), or 403(b), into an IRA and then make a charitable gift directly from the IRA. To learn whether this option is available for your retirement plan, please consult your plan administrator or financial advisor.
Satisfy Your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
Beginning in the year you turn 73, you can use a qualified charitable distribution to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD) while supporting the League’s mission.

Donor Advised Funds
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is like a charitable savings account that offers a simple, tax-efficient way to support the League of Women Voters Minnesota. It gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the League. You can recommend a one-time gift or recurring grants to make an immediate impact, or use your fund to support the League through future charitable giving. Every DAF grant helps advance trusted, nonpartisan voter education, civic engagement, and the protection of democracy across Minnesota.
To learn more about setting up a DAF, please consult someone like your financial advisor, a local community foundation or an investment firm.
Employer Matching Gifts
Boost the impact of your support through a matching gift from your employer. Many employers will match charitable donations made by their employees, allowing your gift to go even further at no additional cost to you. Check with your employer to see if they offer a matching gift program, then submit your donation through their process. Your employer’s match can help expand the League of Women Voters Minnesota’s nonpartisan voter education, civic engagement, and democracy initiatives across the state.
