Why the Post-Election Review?

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota is proud to take on the scope of work previously led by Citizens for Election Integrity Minnesota, to observe and report on our Post Election Review audits and election certification process. Citizens for Election Integrity Minnesota (CEIMN) was a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that advocated for verifiable, transparent, and accurate elections in Minnesota and across the country. CEIMN was formed shortly after the 2004 election after learning of reports in Ohio of electronic voting problems, the disenfranchisement of minority voters, discarded ballots, and other voting irregularities. CEIMN shut down their organization in December 2024 after 20 years of service.

Some highlights of their work:

• Organized ten statewide nonpartisan observations of post-election audits and recounts in Minnesota
• Created the state audit laws searchable database
• Created the state recount laws searchable database. Both databases are now housed at Verified Voting
• Worked with election officials and the state legislature to improve Minnesota’s audit and recount laws
• Co-authored several papers including: Audit Principles and Best Practices, Recount Principles and Best Practices and Coordinating Audits and Recounts to Strengthen Election Verification.
• Hosted and helped organize the first national Audit Summit (2007).

LWVMN has partnered with CEIMN in the past, and is humbled to now lead and build on their two decades of volunteerism and nonpartisan support for election integrity in Minnesota.
